You have to start somewhere, right?

I had a 2000 XJ Classic that I sold 8 years ago when I moved to NYC. Being that I recently moved to SoCal I of course wanted to get back in the Jeep family so I bought a 2015 Rubicon Unlimited, after all I miss my XJ and it's four doors of fun. I know some people hate on the JKU's but as far as I am concerned it's the love child of a Wrangler and a Cherokee. I also have a family now so it was the JKU or not a Jeep.

Here's my Rubi on La Bajada hill in New Mexico on our cross country road-trip from NYC to LA recently.

Current upgrades:

• HID Projector headlights
• Metal Cloak Overland Rocksliders
• Warrior rocker panels (cut to fit with MC sliders)
• Kargo Master congo cage & safari basket (wind deflector too)
• Hood Blackout
• 13" Stubby Antenna
• Off Road Elements limb-risers
• Drake off-road locking hood pins
• Locking gas cap
• Custom hood lettering
• Replaced 'Trail Rated' badge with custom badging
• Custom 2pc 8' safety whip

Now that I've moved the family x-country I plan on wheeling a lot more and getting some upgrades done.

First up would be a new bumper and a winch, SPoD, and on-board air. Beyond that I want to complete the MC Overland kit with fenders and the slider step, followed by new tires (currently KM's will get KM2's), a re-gear (4.56 perhaps), and a lift kit (of course).

Nice, mile that thing out. That's the only way to really enjoy one to the fullest. I'm totally jealous. Great views like that are priceless.

I really wanted to push further up La Bajada but I had 4 of us in the car, trunk full, and 200+ lbs on the roof... so I was already an inch or two shy of travel. I was following a lifted (4+ inches) XJ up and I watched as he was starting to max out his suspension. Knowing I still had almost 1k miles left to our destination I figured it was better to turn around than push further up the hill and risk breaking something. I'd have never heard the end of it from my wife if something broke with us out there, even though our 3 year old was loving the bump trail.
