Jeep Owner
#1. You would think a competent shop (which I believe mine is) could easily solve this, but they haven't. Jeep modified a bit, including a Ripp Super Charger and PSC hydro assist steering. Just acknowledging the extra pulleys. With a cold start the belt chirps and disappears as the engine warms up. I believe it started after the PSC was installed. It is worse in colder ambient temperatures, but eventually goes away in 3-4 miles or 1-2 miles if weather is warm. In attempts to correct, belt dressing, a new belt, a new belt tensioner, a new SC pulley, and maybe a new hydro- pulley (can't say for sure) have been tried. Last time I took it in the shop basically surrendered in defeat. Everything appears tight. Thoughts?
#2 The RIPP software has been monkeyed-with alot, including a trip to a good "speed shop" out of state. It is performing well with current tune , not perfect, but so good I don't want to screw with it with one exception. In 4L off road , especially under engine braking I throw engine code/codes. Always a P..171 lean code and most of the time also a P..174 lean code. Occasionally I have thrown code just sitting at idle between obstacles. Software has been rewritten at least twice to dump more fuel. I can't speak to details, but neither worked and messed-up the on-road performance to boot. So I scrapped them and installed a previous tune. Off road I always reset the codes asap as terrain permits just in case something new has tripped the engine light. The code/s can trip within 50 yards of entering 4L and starting downhill. More typically I have reset the codes after an hour or two. I will reset about 5 times in a 5 hour ride. Vacuum system has been tested and two O2 sensors replaced as precautions. It is annoying so hoping with your background we can solve it or get suggestions.
