Ask The Expert- Steering stabilizer

I have a 2014 JKU with a 3" lift and 35" tires. I felt the steering was a bit wobbly so I replaced the stock stabilizer with Bilstein 5100 steering stabilizer to match my shocks. I left the stabilizer did help a little bit the jeep pulls a little to the left. I had it realigned but that didn't help. Is the new stabilizer probably causing this ? Is there a fix?

Yes, The gas charged steering stabilizer will cause a left hand pull. Changing it out to a non charged one like the OME would fix it.

They both work well and you should not see a difference other then the pull. I would go through the front end and check for worn components that might be causing the shimmy.

About to order the OME stabilizer you recommended. There is also a mount kit they sell. Some reviews mentioned that it is needed on Jk's. Below is the info on the mount kit. Can you advise it is in fact needed and how it installs? My Bilstein was a simple bolt on to the OEM bolts. Not sure what's so different with the OME.
Thanks

It is not required but will allow you to relocate the steering stabilizer on top of the tie rod. Just make sure that you get ether the 07-11 stock tie rod clamp or an after market one. The stock 12+ tie rod clamp does not rotate to allow for this.

Ok, I have some feedback and a question. I tried the Bilstein stabilizer and it really seemed to improve my steering, except that it pulled my jeep to the left. I replaced it will a OME stabilizer and there is no pull but it acts just like my original stabilizer and doesn't do much at all for steering quality etc. Having said all that, is there a gas charged stabilizer that doesn't have the pulling issue?

The only gas charged one that will not cause a pull is the Fox ATS. It also has adjustable valving so you can make it tighter. Just be aware that tighter valving will put added pressure on the steering also.
